This car is very good looking, and has a good amount of standard power taking the hp war up a knotch. The back end looks a bit like the big brother Maybach which might take a bit of getting used too. Very interesting to see that the dashboard look virtually identical to the BMW 7 series including a copy of the idrive....

Again, nice blog.
The new S-Class is good looking and certainly raises the technological bar for all luxury sedans.
However, there is little that is original to the design. There seems to be heavy influence externally from the Maybach, but also the Audi A8. This looks like a performance oriented sedan.
You are quite right, the interior is very much based on the 7 series.
Still, qualms aside, the new S-Class has much more presence than its more suburban predecessor and in this vein it reestablishes the S-Class as a grand car.

Looking forwards to seeing if they are troublesome vehicle electronically. BMW has fixed it's bugs but it takes a while.
If Mercedes can 1) make this car exceptionally reliable and 2) appeal to a younger demographic than they currently are, then they will be able to give BMW a run for their money.
I love the 7 Series, but it's getting a little long in the tooth.
The new S Class is a good look.
